HCPB welcomes four new members

Friday February 20 2009

There are exciting developments at Hawthorn City Pipe Band, with the band members voting to accept four pipers as new members.

Simon Blackshaw Snr., Simon Blackshaw Jnr., Mark Saul and Jono Quay started with the band mid to late last year. All four are most welcome additions, bringing years of experience at the Grade 1 level, both locally and overseas, to the band. Their contributions to teaching, leadership, tune selection, tuning and of course, playing, will be invaluable to the band now and well into the future.

Immediately after becoming a member of the band, Simon Blackshaw Snr. was voted in as the band's new Pipe Major, following Andrew Scott's decision to step down from the position. In the meantime, Bryce Graham made the decision to resign his position as President. Andrew Scott was then nominated and subsequently voted in to fill this role.
